There is no cost to adopt a Marion County maintained roadway.
Please see instructions below on how proceed with the adoption:
1. Complete the Adopt-A-Road Litter Removal Agreement
2. Attach a map, or drawing of the section of roadway you are requesting to adopt
3. Section must be 1 mile in length, can be longer, but must be at least 1 mile, and you must clean both sides making that 2 miles. 1 mile down, 1 mile back.
4. Submit completed application to the Baseline Administration Office located at
5601 SE 66th Street Ocala, FL
5. Marion County can notarize the document in house, or you can have it notarized on your own
After the agreement has been submitted staff will review your application to ensure the road section requested is not already under adoption and that it is a Marion County maintained roadway. If all criteria is met, we will request a sign placements and notify you that your signs have been requested.
The agreement requires that you clean your adopted 2 mile section at a minimum of 4 times a year. However, you can clean as often as you like.
Solid Waste will provide you with bags, gloves, safety vests, road signs, and will pick up the litter collected if you place the litter under the adopt-a-road signs, and submit your litter collection report after the cleanup.
